What is It? Where Can You Find Both of Us?

“I wonder what it is”?

Although we are both called Roadrunners you can find us in different places.

Rodney Roadrunner is at Rocky River Elementary as our school mascot.

He often is seen with sneakers and a backpack.  He is  bright blue and yellow.

Rodney is happy to see you.   Welcome to Rocky River Elementary School.

Where do you find the other Roadrunner?

What does he/she eat?

Where does he/she  live?

Wonder if any of our Flat Friends traveling around the world  has seen either of these

Roadrunners?

Our Flat Friends will be off and traveling again this week to a new school.  Where will they go?

  1. It’s interesting that you have a school mascot- is that common in the US? As you don’t wear a school uniform, where does Rodney Roadrunner appear?
Our school has a crest – the emblem on our uniform jumpers, and on it there are symbols of our town’s heritage – the castle and a racehorse. This appears on our jumpers, the school letter heading, our water bottles and some other items of uniform.
Do you know why your school chose the roadrunner as its emblem? Have you ever seen one in the wild?

  2. Here’s what we found out about roadrunners –
Roadrunners are fast enough to catch and kill a rattlesnake
Roadrunners can run up to 17mph
The roadrunner is also known as the chapparral cock
Roadrunners are part of the cuckoo family
Roadrunners are usually found in parts of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southward into Mexico.
Roadrunners have about 7 different calls, their normal noise is a cooing sound.
