World Education Games

This is our first year ever to participate in the World Education Games.  At first we were a little nervous because we are in second grade.  Some of us answered questions in the 4-7 age group and some of us had to do the  8-10 age group.      We’ve been busy practicing spelling, math and science the past few weeks.  Now it’s time to show what we can do for the games.  We are excited and love to see who we will compete against.  They come from all around the world.    The science questions were hard we discovered and we answered 731 during the warm-up.  We only did science one week because of difficulty getting on.  For the warm-up time in spelling we answered over 15,152 questions.  And in math 11, 726 questions.    It’s been a lot of fun just practicing.

  1. Hi Roadrunners
Looks like you’ve all been working SUPER-hard! That’s a lot of practice questions to answer. We practice spelling and times tables every week, but we mainly do that at home – we have 10 spellings to learn (for a spelling rule – we have to learn the rule as well as the words!) and a times table to practice, and then each week we have a mini-test to see if we’ve learned them. We’re pretty good at learning them for the test, but sometimes we don’t remember to put what we’ve learned into practice – that’s the hard bit, isn’t it?
We also use an on-line game called Conker Maths to practice our KIRFS, which are Key Instant Recall Facts – we have different KIRFs each half term. This half term we’re practising doubling and halving.
I like the sound of the World Education Games – maybe next year we’ll take part, too!
